Off-Ice Hockey Training: Build Power, Precision and Performance

Off-Ice Hockey Training at T3 helps hockey players unleash their strength, speed and skill through a program designed specifically for their needs.

Our unique approach to strength and speed development translates to better on-ice performance.

The speed training we teach helps athletes be more stable in power skating sessions and go faster on the ice. Strength training develops explosiveness and durability. And our conditioning ensures athletes have the engine to support the grueling demands of hockey.

Our training is available for athletes ages 12 and up. We work with middle school and high school players, as well as athletes in Junior, College or Pro systems.

We train in a supervised small-group environment led by certified coaches. The coaches teach proper form and check in with athletes throughout the workout. Athletes learn how to move better and lift more safely.

Off-Ice Hockey Training Classes are available throughout the week. Additionally, hockey players who join get access to all of our Intermediate or Elite athlete training classes, giving you even more options for your schedule.

Our training program starts with a one-on-one assessment with a certified coach. The coach can evaluate an athlete’s abilities and needs. Then we precisely tailor a program for the athlete’s individual goals.

Power up your play by completing the form below. Our coaching staff will help you get on the path to even better performance.

Our Off-Ice Training Helps Hockey Players…

Get Faster and More Agile

Athletes sprint and train footwork through quick change of direction drills. These exercises produce better on-ice agility and responsiveness.

Build Muscle and Power

Our training targets essential muscle groups including the legs, core, and upper body. Players improve their ability to give and receive hits. Added strength translates to improved shot velocity.

Fortify High-Risk Sites Against Injury

We pay special attention to areas like the hips and shoulders, which can wear down and lead to injury if an athlete is not prepared. This training helps protect players after the puck drops, and empowers them to handle the demands of the season.

Our boys have been members for 8 years and have done hockey-specific training for the past 5. They have not only become stronger and more explosive on the ice, but they also enter their hockey season well conditioned. They have gained confidence in themselves. I cannot say enough good things about Coach Ryan and the trainers at T3.

What happens during Hockey Off-Ice Training sessions?

Off-Ice Hockey Training classes are 90 minutes long and typically include…

  • Dynamic Warm-Up: Activates muscles and prepares athletes for performance.

  • Speed Development: Sprint training that improves an athlete’s ability to accelerate and hit their top speed more quickly. We also train change-of-direction drills that help them cover more area, more quickly on the ice.

  • Strength Training: Build muscle through compound lifts that develop full-body strength. Power training helps athletes become more explosive, while overall strength development improves durability.

  • Conditioning: Activities that improve cardiovascular strength and output. Intervals mimic the demands of intense shifts on game day. Athletes develop more endurance and greater stamina.

  • Mobility and Stretching: We conclude with self-maintenance, focusing on stretching and mobilizing key areas throughout the body. This helps a player stay pain-free and improves their overall longevity in the sport.

  • Athlete-Specific Adaptations: Every athlete receives a training program designed for their needs and their goals. We adjust the program for in-season or out-of-season athletes, ensuring their needs are met year-round.

I am a Junior A hockey player and have been going to Coach Ryan and T3 for the past four summers for off season hockey training. The work has translated tremendously on the ice. I can personally see a difference in my play, strength and agility due to the workouts.

FAQs about OFF-ICE HOCKEY Training at T3

  • Athletes start by receiving a ne-on-one, 60-minute assessment with a member of our coaching staff. We’ll discuss the player’s goals and needs, and assess their current abilities.

The coach will then develop a strength and conditioning plan tailored for your hockey player. Parents of athletes are welcome to attend and ask questions.

  • We recommend athletes train 3-4 times a week during the offseason. For in-season training, we suggest training 2-3 times a week.
