HORSEPOWER: Strength and Speed Training Exclusively for Football Players

HORSEPOWER is Northeast Ohio’s premier football off-season training program. We help players reach their potential by building muscle mass, explosive power, and better movement patterns. Our training is available for both middle school and high school athletes, and can help players at all positions from linemen to skill (backs and receivers).

Horsepower classes include mobility training, speed and agility training, and strength and power development. We train a monitored group setting. Our coaches teach proper lifting technique and keep an eye on exercise form throughout the session. Athletes develop proper form and safer habits.

Horsepower classes take place every weekday afternoon, with sessions available for both middle school and high school athletes.

Athletes who sign up for Horsepower also gain access to our Intermediate or Elite athlete training classes, giving you even more training options for your schedule.

Horsepower starts with a one-on-one movement assessment led by one of our certified coaches. The coach will evaluate your athlete’s abilities and needs, and build a program for their goals.

Start getting faster, stronger, and more explosive today. Schedule your free athlete assessment by completing the form below.

Our Football Training Program Helps Athletes…

Get Bigger and More Athletic

More than just building muscle and size, players develop functional strength, speed and power to help them dominate on the field.

Improve On-Field Skills and Technique

Players learn better technique and proper movement patterns. This translates to more efficient moves on game day.

Increase Mental Strength and Toughness

Athletes in our Horsepower group become more competitive, confident and mentally strong. They train with the best players in our area, so they know they can hang with the best on game day.

During 2 to 3 years training at T3, I made unbelievable progress. I gained 25 lbs of muscle, shed 0.5 seconds off of my 40 yd dash, and was moving weight I had never previously dreamed of moving. Because of the progress I made, I was able to earn a spot on the University of Akron’s football team. I am currently a starter on all 4 special teams units for them.

What happens during a Horsepower Football Training Class?

Horsepower class sessions are 75 minutes long and generally include…

  • Football-Specific Warm Up: A dynamic warm up that gets players moving and ready to perform. Includes mobility work and muscle activation to help prevent injury.

  • Football Speed Training: Players train acceleration, change of direction and lateral movement — all of which help them cover more ground, more quickly on the field or turf. We also work on sprints and starts, which help athletes cut time off of their 40-yard dash.

  • Strength and Power: Athletes train core and accessory lifts to build full-body muscle mass. Exercises are scaled up or down based on strength and experience. Coaches teach proper technique for each exercise and move throughout the session to monitor form.

  • Conditioning: Sessions often end with conditioning blocks that mimic the demands of football itself: Short, intense bursts of all-out effort. Players become better prepared for game day, even when the season is months away, because they’ve trained to handle it.

  • Athlete-Specific Adjustments: Horsepower is not a one-size-fits-all protocol. Each athlete is at a different place in their development, with different goals. Our coaches will help them assess their needs, set proper goals, and then build a tailored plan for their success.

My son has been attending T3 for years and his experience continues to get better. The staff and trainers are excellent. Horsepower and athlete training have been his favorites. As a parent, knowing that he was training and learning how to safely lift meant so much.

FAQs about FOOTBALL Training at T3

  • We’ve seen athletes improve their performance with as little as 2 days per week — especially among younger athletes. As athletes become more mature or get more serious about their development, they may train up to 5 days per week.

  • Horsepower athletes will have their strength numbers and sprint times tracked from workout to workout. Trainers, athletes and parents alike can watch as these numbers improve over time.

  • Horsepower classes are led by T3 coaches, many who hold Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees in Exercise Science or other related fields. Coaches also hold numerous certifications including from USA Weightlifting, the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NCSA), and other highly respected professional organizations.

  • Wear standard workout clothing and shoes. Turf cleats are suggested for speedwork. A water bottle is also a good idea.

The coach will then develop a strength and conditioning plan tailored for your football player. Parents of athletes are welcome to attend and ask questions.
